Acceptable Forms of Payment
- Checks, as defined by UCC § 3-104, which includes money orders and cashier’s checks.
- Credit cards, including Visa, Mastercard, American Express and Discover Card.
- Electronic funds transfers: Initiate a payment electronically directly from your bank account by phone or online.
- Cash payments may be made only if accepted by your agent. In-person payments are not accepted at Mercury Insurance offices, and agents are not obligated to accept cash payments. Contact your agent if you have any questions about this option.
Mercury Insurance retains the sole discretion to determine whether a payment is tendered in an acceptable form. Insurance coverage is conditioned upon the payment instrument being honored by the bank or financial institution when first presented. If payment is returned unpaid or otherwise reversed, coverage will be void and deemed never to have been in effect, to the extent permitted by applicable state law.
