Mercury Insurance and the LA Kings Launch “Hockeywood”: Honoring Unsung Heroes of Los Angeles

By the Mercury Team

Mercury Insurance and the LA Kings have teamed up once again to launch our newest project - Hockeywood. This exciting new initiative builds on our commitment to the Los Angeles community and our core value: “We do the right thing.” As two LA-born brands with a partnership spanning 17 seasons, Mercury and the Kings are both passionate about giving back to the city and look forward to honoring some of LA’s greatest with Hockeywood.

Celebrating the Heart of LA: Community Heroes

Mercury and the LA Kings created Hockeywood to spotlight the everyday heroes who make LA a better place to live — teachers, nurses, coaches, crossing guards, and more. These are the people who go the extra mile to help others but often don’t get the recognition they deserve. Through Hockeywood, Mercury and the Kings will share their stories and honor their impact on the community.

Erik Thompson, Vice President and Chief Marketing Officer at Mercury Insurance, explains why Hockeywood is so meaningful: “Mercury and the Kings have always felt a deep connection to Los Angeles. With Hockeywood, we’re celebrating the people who give so much to this city. These heroes are the real stars of LA, and this program is our way of saying thank you and letting them know how much they mean to us all.”

How Hockeywood Works

At the heart of Hockeywood is the Wall of Fame, which lives both online and in person. On https://www.lakings.com/hockeywood fans can watch a video explaining the initiative, nominate their own community heroes, and explore a virtual wall that tells each honoree’s story.

There’s also a physical Wall of Fame at Toyota Sports Center in El Segundo — the Kings’ training facility that boasts over 1.2 million visitors annually. The installation includes a sprawling video wall, an iPad station where visitors can learn more about Hockeywood’s community stars, and a QR code that links to the website so visitors can nominate someone and discover more about the program.

Each month, Mercury and the Kings will select two new heroes to celebrate throughout the season and beyond.

A VIP Experience for Hockeywood Stars

Every Hockeywood honoree is in for an unforgettable experience with the Kings. They’ll receive two tickets to a game, a personal shoutout during the event, a Kings jersey, and a custom-engraved keepsake — a well-deserved VIP treatment to celebrate the people who quietly make Los Angeles a better place every day.

Luc Robitaille, President of the LA Kings, shares why this program means so much: “The Kings and Mercury are all about LA, and our fans and neighbors mean everything to us. Hockeywood is our way of showing that we see them, value them, and are grateful for everything they do. It’s a chance to celebrate the people who make LA such an incredible place to call home.”

A Season of Giving Back

This season, Mercury and the LA Kings invite you to be part of Hockeywood and recognize those who make a difference. Whether you’re cheering at a game, visiting the Toyota Sports Center, or scrolling online, you can join in celebrating the heroes who bring LA to life and make it a place we’re all proud to call home.

If you know someone who’s making a difference, nominate them for the Hockeywood Wall of Fame and give them a chance to shine. Visit https://www.lakings.com/hockeywood for more details, and nominate your hero today.
