What to Do in the Event of a Residence Loss

  • Contact the Police

    If the loss is caused by burglary or theft, notify the police immediately. When it is safe to do so, contact Mercury at (800) 503-3724 to file your claim.

  • Take Inventory

    Go room-by-room to take an inventory of the damaged or stolen property. If you can, take pictures, make temporary repairs and try to protect your property from further damage.

  • Vacate Your Home

    Vacate the premises if it is unlivable and move to a safe location. Keep itemized receipts for any living-related costs. Do not dispose of any damaged items.

  • Name of Police Department
  • Description of Damage

1If a General Liability claim and a lawsuit have been filed, please provide a copy of the lawsuit that includes the name of the person who received it, the time and date it was received, and location where it was received.
