MercuryGO™ Privacy Policy

Overview

This Privacy Policy applies to the MercuryGO Program, the usage-based insurance program offered by the insurers of the Mercury Insurance Group of companies (“Mercury,” the “Company,” “we,” “our,” and “us”). Our Privacy Statement and our Notice of Information Practices describe our general collection, sharing, and use practices for personal information related to our policyholders. This Privacy Policy describes the additional information that is collected if you enroll in the MercuryGO program, and how we use that information.

MercuryGO is a voluntary program that may make you eligible for one or more discounts on your Mercury automobile insurance premium depending on participation in the Program, and also depending on the Driving Data related to the participating driver(s). Each driver in your policy participating in the MercuryGO Program must download into their smart phone the Mobile Application (the App) provided by Cambridge Mobile Telematics, our technology partner for this Program, and accept the Mobile App License Agreement. Your participation in the MercuryGO Program is at no cost to you. The MercuryGO Program involves the collection of information about how, when and where vehicles are operated by the participating driver(s).

MercuryGO may not be available in all states. Contact your agent to find out if it is available in your area.

The App

The App records and transmits to us Location, Driving Data, Mobile Phone Information, and App Analytical Information.  You must expressly consent to the collection and use of this information when enrolling in the MercuryGO program.

Driving Data and Other Information We Collect

Driving Data means information about how, when, and where the driver operates a vehicle. Driving Data includes, for example, device location (GPS coordinates) , miles driven, trip duration, rates of acceleration, vehicle speed, braking and cornering, and phone usage. Driving Data will be captured by the App that is downloaded into your smart phone and will be transmitted using a cellular data network.

The Mobile Phone Information includes whether your screen is locked, whether you are calling or otherwise using your phone, motion activity or activity recognition, whether the phone is connected to a Bluetooth® device, date/time stamp and operating system data available to the App. The App does not record the content of your communications or the identity of the person with whom you are communicating, or which other app(s) you are using.

The App Analytical Information includes how often you use the App, which mobile screens you have viewed in the App, which referring/exit pages you have entered and left in the App, aggregated App usage, App performance data, and other App activity.

In addition to Driving Data and other information we collect as part of our insurance relationship with you as described in the Notice of Information Practices, we may collect, use, and store the following types of information about you and your vehicle:

Information generated by the App or collected by the App is periodically or continuously collected when the App is activated.
